Texas Bluebonnet Books

2016-2017

The Texas Bluebonnet Award reading program encourages Texas children to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books. The award process provides librarians, teachers, parents, and writers with insight into

young students' reading preferences. It further affords an opportunity to honor and encourage imaginative authors who create books with high appeal to children.  Once children have read 5 or more out of the 20 books on the Bluebonnet list, they are eligible to vote on their favorite title from the list each January.  Teachers may read these books to their classes and this too will count for voting eligibility in January.  The library will be set up for voting in January.  The winner of this prestigious award will be announced in February.

Please see your librarian's monthly review of Bluebonnet titles posted in the hallway next to the library with discussion questions and opportunities to win prizes for answering the questions.
