Accelerated Reader Program: Let's Take a Reading Road Trip!
The Accelerated Reader program is a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level (determined by a reading comprehension quiz taken 3 times a year), read independently, and take an independent comprehension test on the computer for each book read. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level. Students get a percentage of these points based on how many of the test questions they get right. The program tracks their progress over the course of the school year. With practice, reading comprehension levels will continue to increase. Students will be able to choose from thousands of AR books on their reading level that are available in our library. Reading incentive prizes will be awarded to students for passing quizzes and accruing points. Progress will also be monitored through individual reading logs and a map of the U.S. that goes with our AR theme for this year: Let's Take a Reading Road Trip! where students will move their cars to different points of interest in the United States based on points earned.

A Parent Guide to Accelerated Reader
